VASANT VALLEY SCHOOL, NEW DELHI – It was established in 1990. Currently there are total of around 1257 students from Class
Foundation to 12. There are around 140 staff members. It is affiliated to CBSE Board. The curriculum lays emphasis on academics computers, physical education and arts. The school is spread on a campus of over eighty acres with fully equipped library, science and computer laboratories. There is a large playing field for various sports like football, volleyball, basketball, tennis etc. Drama, Performing Arts, Arts and Design, Debating and Music form a significant part of the curriculum. Pre-school is the entry point with total of 90 seats. The minimum age is 3+ years and all admissions are made as per the RTE Act and Point System.
THE VALLEY SCHOOL, BANGALORE – It was established in 1978 and is located at Thatguni (about 17 km from south Bangalore). It has 104 acres of campus with dense vegetation. The total student strength is 325 from Classes 1 to 12. The school has a unique Mixed Age Group Learning Program for children up to age 12. It is affiliated to CISCE and offers ICSE for Class 10 and ISC for Class 12 students. The school houses a well stocked library with over 16000 titles, state-of-the-art laboratories for science and computers. There are also seminar hall and audio-visual room. Sports and games facilities include – a football field, 3 basket ball courts, a kho-kho field, a volleyball court, a table-tennis room with 3 tables and indoor spaces for yoga, aerobics etc. Class 1 and 11 are the two entry points.
Admission is sought through an interactive session with parents and applicant along with the result in Class 10 board examination. There are no standard procedures for admission to classes other than Class I and XI. Admissions are considered only if vacancies arise and this is determined by the end of the term (Feb/March). The tuition fee is around INR 1,35,000 for Class 1 to 10 and INR 1,90,000 for Class 11 & 12 along with a non-refundable admission fee of around INR 7,500.
THE SRI RAM SCHOOL, DELHI/GURGAON – It is an initiative of SRF Foundation established by Sir Shri Ram. It is renowned for its reputation in educational innovation and academic excellence. It has three campus in the National Capital Region – one at Vasant Vihar consists of Classes Kindergarten to Class V, second at Moulsari Avenue, DLF(Gurgaon) consists of Classes 6 to 12 and the third at Aravali-Hamilton Court Complex, DLF (Gurgaon) consists of Classes K to 12. It is affiliated to the ICSE board for Class X and ISC for Class XII. The school has a science laboratory, computer and ICT labs, music and dance rooms, lunch rooms, assembly hall sports facilities, a yoga room and an all weather performance area called Shri Manch. The campus is equipped with basketball courts, a football ground, a cricket pitch and an outdoor stage. The school has a rich extra-curricular program of sport, dance, music, art, clay, drama and hobby classes run parallel to the academic curriculum. Admission to Nursery is as per the criterion laid out by the directive of the Delhi State Government. For all other classes admission is given on the basis of vacancies arising through the school year through assessment and an interview. The tuition fee for ICSE board is around INR 3000 to 6000 per month depending on the grade and for IB curriculum it is around INR 2.5 lakh per annum.
CATHEDRAL AND JOHN CONNON SCHOOL, MUMBAI – It is a co-educational private school and was established in 1860, and is considered to be one of the oldest schools in India. It is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations and the students appear for ICSE for Class 10 and ISC for Class 12 examinations. The medium of instruction is English with Hindi as the second language and Marathi & Sanskrit as third languages. The school also conducts College Board’s Advanced Placement Program in the school. Sports, dramatics, elocution, debates and Model United Nations are popular co-curricular activities. The school receives large number of applications therefore it advises parents to complete registration as their wards turn 1 year of age. Kindergarten is the entry point. Admission to Std. I to X is based on vacancy though applications are submitted in February. The monthly tuition fee ranges between INR 18,000 to 35,000 as per the grade.
MALLAYA ADITI INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, BANGALORE – It was started in 1984 by Ujwal Trust. It has around 550 students from 16 different nationalities. It offers a global education system with emphasis on academic excellence, positive social values, creative freedom and self discovery. It runs classes from Preparatory to Class 12. Students can choose from Cambridge International Examination (UK) or ICSE board in Class 9 and 11. The school has also introduced University of Chicago’s School Math Program titled Everyday Mathematics in the Elementary School. The school promotes physical fitness through sports activities. It also produces plays musicals and concerts. The school also gives an opportunity to its graduating students to intern wit professionals to test out various careers of their choice. The annual fee is around INR 2 lakh.
DPS, R.K.PURAM, NEW DELHI – It is one of the most prestigious schools in India. Founded as a Public School in 1972 in New Delhi, it is a private institution run by the Delhi Public School Society. It is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and approximately 9,500 students on its rolls. In Class 11 school offers science, commerce and humanities stream. The facilities include 2 libraries with around 60,000 books, seminar hall, science & computer labs, sports complex with volleyball, cricket and football fields, swimming pool, gymnasium, among many others. Admission is subject to availability of seats. For Class 11 only those who have secured minimum of 81% marks or 45 total grade points are eligible to register. The registered candidates undergo written test and interview to seek final admission. The total school fee is approximately INR 80,000 per year.
SPRINGDALES SCHOOL, DHAULA KUAN DELHI – It is run by the Springdales School Society in New Delhi. The school is a member of the National Progressive Schools’ Conference. The curriculum is multi-dimensional including an academic programme of high quality, a wide range of co-curricular activity, a comprehensive programme of sports and physical culture, training in manual skills and education for social awareness and action. It is affiliated to CBSE board. The annual fee is close to INR 40,000.
THE RIVERSIDE SCHOOL AHMEDABAD – It was established by Kiran Bir Sethi in 2001. It has a student capacity of 390 students with a student teacher ratio of 6:1. There is an in-house research-based curriculum up to 7th grade and from Class 8 to 12 it follows the IGCSE curriculum. It has a student friendly campus with state-of-the-art building, modern amenities, a large play area, well-equipped labs and performance stage for art & culture. There is no test for admission to pre-nursery to grade 1, a language comprehension evaluation for grade 2 and a written test is conducted from Grade 3 to 12. The annual fee is around INR 1 lakh.
